Use this guide to collect the evidence Radian Generation needs to approve your Transient Cyber Asset (TCA) request. Follow the four steps below so your request can be reviewed quickly.
Is this the right guide? This guide is for sites that accept real-time antivirus scanning instead of a full-disk scan. A separate guide covers sites that require a full-disk scan. Contact us if you need it.

What you'll need
- A completed TCA form
- A screenshot showing your operating system patches are applied
- A screenshot showing your antivirus is current, protecting the device, and has found no threats
Every screenshot must show the date and time from the Windows taskbar clock. Some screens only say "Today", so the clock is how we confirm when the screenshot was taken.
Step 1 Show your operating system is up to date
Take a screenshot showing that all applicable operating system patches are installed.
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
On Windows 11, open Settings > Windows Update. - Check that all available updates are installed.
- Take a screenshot that includes the taskbar clock.
Step 2 Show your antivirus is current and no threats exist
Take one screenshot that proves all three of these:
| Requirement | What we need to see |
|---|---|
| Up-to-date protection | Antivirus software and signatures updated in the last 7 days |
| Active protection | Real-time protection is on, or a full-disk scan ran in the last 2 days |
| Clean device | No known threats on the device |
How to take the screenshot
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
On Windows 11, open Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. - Make sure the screen shows Current threats, Virus & threat protection settings and Virus & threat protection updates.
- Take a screenshot that includes the taskbar clock.
Most antivirus products report their status to Windows Security, so this one screen works for nearly everyone. If Windows Security doesn't show the full picture, call us. We can usually walk you through getting the evidence from your antivirus app instead.
What each antivirus should show
| Antivirus | Current threats | Protection settings | Protection updates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows Defender | 0 threats | No action needed | Shown on screen |
| CrowdStrike | No actions needed | No actions needed | No actions needed |
| ESET | No actions needed | No actions needed | No actions needed |
| FortiClient | No actions needed | No actions needed | No actions needed |
| SonicWall | No actions needed | No actions needed | No actions needed |
| Cylance | Call us before you submit. See the note below. | ||
Using Cylance? Cylance doesn't report full status to Windows Security, and no customer has yet been able to show every required check with it. Call 800-275-5870 before you submit to discuss options. We'll likely need contact details for your IT department.
Example: Windows Defender
Example: CrowdStrike
Example: ESET
Example: FortiClient
Example: SonicWall
Step 3 Complete the TCA form
Fill in every blue field on the TCA form. Two fields need extra care:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Asset tag | A unique ID for the TCA device. Field personnel use it to confirm the device being connected is the one that was approved, and we use it to track TCA use across sites. |
| Justification | A short reason for using the TCA, for example "updating inverters" or "collecting files from relays". |
Step 4 Send your evidence for review
Email everything below to the inbox for your site's owner or manager, for example radian-greenit@radiangen.com.
- The completed TCA form (Step 3)
- The operating system patch screenshot (Step 1)
- The antivirus status screenshot showing no threats (Step 2)
- Any scan results
Need the TCA in less than one hour? Send your evidence first, then call 800-275-5870 and select option 1 to request an expedited review.
Need help?
Missing a green check mark, status unavailable, or something else not quite right? We can often collect the evidence another way.
